Sheet Bench by John Glinister

040108johnglinister.jpgRaw and refined. The "Sheet Bench" is a conceptual piece by UK's John Glinister. It takes left over scraps of wood to create a beautiful piece of furniture from things that would normally be thrown out...

040108johnglinister2.jpgUsing different widths and types of grains, each piece would be unique and could also be painted. The pieces are glued and pressed together and left raw on the back sides. It would then be sanded and finished to a highly smoothed front side. We are liking the multi striped effect and wish we knew someone that had a bunch of wood scraps to attempt a DIY of our own! Check out more of John Glinister's conceptual pieces here. (via PureContemporary)

Yeah.. I think this is an April fools joke. You got me good, AT. But still, that designer is out of his mind. His other stuff is alright, but he even made TWO versions of this monstrosity. And for the love of god, please somebody teach him a thing or two about typography. That Monotype Corsiva is not flying with me.

That IS hideous, but the concept is really cool. I wonder if there's a more appealing way to do this.
