We're one of those people who cannot make decisions in the morning. Which is why we arranged our medicine chest in use order, why we put everything we need to remember to take with us on our landing strip and why we lay out our clothes the night before. We've thought about getting a clothes valet to put them on but they seem so fussy. Then we saw this chair with a drawer...
We had one of "duh" moments when you wonder why there are not more chairs designed with drawers. We know we'd find them useful. In a dining room, for example, they could streamline the room by holding the silverware and napkins we'd like to keep in that room without having to resort to a buffet. What do you think? Should more chairs be designed with drawers?

Unfortunately in our house, sometimes our kid gets a little rough and a chair falls over.. could imagine the contents all over the place!

This would be a great addition to a landing strip - I don't have enough room for a bench, so I have a small chair where you can take off or put on shoes, and this could be a handy place for gloves, scarves, travel books, coupons - anything that you need to remember on the way out the door!

it would just become another 'junk drawer' if I had one. Plus, I'm clumsy and I wouldn't want to knock it over and have everything spill out.

this is an old Shaker design

I think this is a little clunky as dining room chairs, plus who wants to store there silverware where people sit? This would make a fantastic nightstand though. You could even store your shoes underneath.

i like it :)
jick, as a nightstand it'd be perfection!

i'd be in love with this if the drawer was on one side, so i could sit in it facing forward and still access the drawer.

i really dig this... and also agree that it could make a great nightstand!
it could also be nice to have a few in the living room or dining room, against a wall if you have space. you have some storage, and extra seating when you have guests!

"we're one of those people"? It's ok to use "I", really. The internet won't revolt.

yeah, "we're one of those people" takes the all-ATers-live-together idea to another level - they all come together to form just one person. like a design voltron.

I like this for a landing strip but not for a dining room -- I'd always forget which chair had the napkin rings and which one had the extra grapefruit spoons.

Henk Stallinga designed a chair with drawer that looks like the one above, named "One Night Stand" in 1994.

good idea but I'd probably put a latch on it because my dad is so clumsy and knocks everything over. It would be a great place to store cloth napkins or extra plastic spoons, forks, and straws from take out places! :)
