The problem with Craigslist, is that it hasn’t really caught on here in Australia. But luckily we have gumtree to fill the gap. Gumtree hails from the UK and was set up to cater to all the Aussie, Kiwi and South African expats looking for flatmates, jobs and cheap furniture. It’s now grown into Craigslist-style city specific sites and it’s homeware/furniture section is very useful for those setting up home and bargain hunters.
Listings get updated daily and good things go quickly, so you have to check regularly. Sometimes it can be a pain trawling through bad stuff, but trust us, gems come up so it’s worth the effort. Ads from international students returning home feature heavily, which mean lots of fridges, washing machines and microwaves – in fact it’s not uncommon to see a ‘full kitchen set up’ listing with everything from an electric kettle and rice cooker to pots, cutlery and tea towels. The site is a great resource for young people setting up home for the first time.

I have been looking for a table like that forever. Does anyone know who makes those types?

I've been in Australia for 4 years now and was totally unaware of gumtree. You've opened up a whole new world. Thanks for posting this!
