High or Low?: Armchairs

We thought we would do a little rummaging around with the major manufacturers and see if when we pulled images of a similar chair, if we could figure out which we would still spend our money on. Which would you?

answer:
A. Crate and Barrel's Laguna Chair $899
B. West Elm's Club Chair $399

Now of course we all know that a picture and in person are two different things.. but we thought we would just have a little fun experiment with furniture. Which was your first choice?

The club chair in the top photo looks more comfortable and more timeless to me. After clicking on both links I see the C&B chair is also 7" wider, the better option for curling up with a good book.

I liked #2 better. I'm living with poufy and pillows now, and the sleekness of the second chair is more my taste. I like that it's a bit smaller too, I can picture 2 of them side by side across a small table from a settee, perfect for a conversation.

saw and sat in the bottom chair at West Elm - very disappointing and cheap feeling. Looks better in the catalog picture than in person.

The top one looks comfortable. Plus, sometimes it's nice to be able to slouch down in a chair until your neck rests on the top of the cushion. The top one looks like you can do that, but the bottom one makes me think you have to sit up straight. I'm a sloucher, definitely.

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison...

I recognized the West Elm chair right away because I sat in it over the weekend. It's very nice. It looks much better than the poofy C&B chair and at less than half the price ... SOLD!!

Am I the only one who is repulsed by mirofiber?

microfiber is repulsive

Micro fiber makes me dry heave.

But even if you *actually* heaved, it would blot right up off of micro fiber!!

Why do people hate microfiber so much? I'm just curious. I have a microfiber couch because I have a husband who I can't train not to eat on the furniture and a dog. It is easy to clean. I don't think it looks bad though. It isn't a cheaply made sofa (it's Mitchell Gold).
Is it a tactile thing?
