There is a saying in the field of design that goes something like this: Big can always be bigger, and small can always be smaller; and when in doubt, the should be. We've been noticing a big Big trend lately: large-scaled printed wallpaper, sofas upholstered in strong, graphic prints with huge shapes, and bedding designs have gone from petite to explosions of bigger patterns.

Love it when it's done right, especially furniture, like the couch, but I'd be afraid to work with it. You basically have to design around that one piece, and if you want to change the decor, you have to change everything. And since this stuff becomes dated fairly quickly, you'd probably have to do it before too long.

Where can I find the orange chair? I've searching for something like it.

minty03, I believe the chair is from Anthropologie, so try looking there.
In theory, I love huge prints. In practice, I'm pretty much in Josie's camp. I buy duvet covers with medium-sized prints, and that's about it. I don't think my tiny studio could handle any more print.
Pillows with big bold graphic prints are totally sweet, though. Those count, right?

Yep, both chair and sofa are from Anthropologie. (I think the chair is called Cleo). On a side note, I just read a blog about how a woman bought one of these chairs at Anthropologie, only to find the exact same chair at the Salvation Army for $25.
And mmadden, I'm all for big pillow graphics too--I'm experimenting now with different scales of patterns of with pillows to see how far I can go without my bed looking schizophrenic!

Grace, do report back to us about your pillow experiment. I'm embarking on a similar project b/c I just got a new duvet. On one hand, it's like, "How many pillows do I really need?" On the other, it's "Ooh, pretty pillows! I'll take twelve."
