Urban Outfitters continues to find unique and modern furniture lines to showcase online. First up the LuLu chair. From the sites notes, says that it is exclusive to UO and that legs are removable for easy moving. Notes also state that items ship directly from the vendor which we are SO nosey about keep a lookout for shipping boxes!]. Since there are only a handful of furniture manufacturers that could produce a piece at this price point so we are very curious to say the least. Available online only for $380. UO is providing swatches now if you need to see the fabric first.
Second up the pillow top flocked bird settee. Our favorite shape of the bunch, we think a couple of them together to form a little sitting area would be wonderful. We're still pondering the lifespan of UO furniture and would love to hear anyone's feedback on purchases.
Lastly, the
spearmint apostrophe chair and ottoman. Midcentury inspired, we love the photo but wonder whether the construction would be of quality enough to hold up those soft edges. This is our least apt to buy piece because of questions on construction but applaud the effort and shape.
All three pieces are available online only.
I don't know about the chair (which is so adorable especially at that price), but another UO.com piece called the Antoinette Fainting Sofa--in various shades and stylish black flocked for $550--is also at target.com in various other shades for $449.99. At Target it's less fashionably known as the Button-tufted settee. Made by Skyline furniture. et, pedetre, le chaise too?

I am always suspicious when an item is available online only. Why not show a model in the store? What are they trying to hide?

Wow, Janamartin,
Good job, that is the same sofa! http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-1/qid=1182828131/ref=sr_1_1/602-6421224-9443047?ie=UTF8&asin=B000M4DOV6 How did you find out who the manufacturer was?

Lisa: I'm so swift that I hit the refresh button and lost my glib little explanation. But basically, as I was drooling over the peacock colored "chaise settee"--so odd that Target couldn't come up with a clear name--I saw the other customers were looking at, among other "chaises," an orange mottled, warbled-contoured thing. I had to know more about that. What could possibly be the appeal? It has such a delia's on acid look to it. And 2 things struck me when I clicked on the orange object's page: the color is listed as maroon (is not maroon, is more like mandarin orange!), and there was a link to skyline furniture in the lefthand corner. I thought, what company could possibly call that maroon? And on the skyline page, was right back in front of the peacock tufted chaise.
There you have it. I wonder if anyone can possibly love that orange thing. Maybe in a fortune teller's basement?

I don't know what this means?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! I totally bought that chaise from UO for $550, plus tax and shipping it came to $650. And, it's a piece of crap that you have to assemble yourself. I decided to just chalk it up to experience and never buy furniture online again, or from a place better known for cheap t-shirts and purportedly funny books about sex.
Oh well, at least the color I bought is not at Target. But I could have sucked it up for $200.
I am bitter.

Alexeight--sorry to hear that. I peruse both sites, salivate, usually think better of it. At Target tangible I sat in a chair I'd seen online and nearly ordered. It offered no comfort, but still had a swanky, mouse-brown sheen to it. But it was microsuede, and smelled like plastic. Not to make you squirm but Target also had a furniture sale last week: save 10% off the price if you order more than $125 worth of furniture or something like that.
What color did you get? The colors at UO were, indeed, better. A little fustier at target. But for $650 even, to get a tufted chaise, is nothing to sneeze at. In certain ways it may last longer than a funny book about sex...

I love the shape of the flocked settee. I did some online investigating and found that The Company Store website has the same settee for $300 more than UO. They have about 20 custom shades but still why the high price? JC Penneys has a nice looking settee but I'm looking for armless and under $600. Does anyone have any suggestions?
