We Angelinos have all flipped through the Room and Board Catalogue and thought, "gosh, these couches are so much sleeker than the ones at Pottery Barn, but without a store near by, I don't know how they feel." Well, your wish is our command. While visiting New York, we stopped in the huge store and tried out all of the couches for comfort. If we didn't like the shape we didn't bother to sit.
OUR TOP COMFORT PICKS:

Stay tuned for our picks for "It'll get you by" and "What are they, high?"...

It should be "Angelenos" not "Angelinos." Los Angeles is Spanish not Italian.
Whoops, posted this one on the NY-AT. But here are my left-coast thoughts on R&B:
I don't know about their couches, but the bf and I went down to the South Coast Plaza R&B a couple of weekends ago to test-drive the armchairs. We probably sat in 3/4 of them and absolutely fell in love with the York. Did not want to get out of it. Absolutely delicious (IMHO). So now we're saving up for it.
Thank you, ebrown, for bringing up the Angeleno issue. I'm with you on this one (and posted a similar comment yesterday on another thread). Now that you've commented on it, I don't feel like so much of a geek.
I have the 92" pull-out Preston model. I'm very pleased with it. The mattress isn't super luxuriant, but it beats an Aerobed for guests anyday -- the bed construction is very solid.
As a 92" couch, its depth easily fits two stretched-out, snuggling adults. I suppose the only drawback is the two-cushion format (stedda three cushions), so if three people are seated, somebody rides the crack.
Keep in mind if/when you visit the R&B store, you'll be test-driving sofas that have had asses of all shapes and sizes plunked on them repeatedly. So the floor models tend to be well-broken in. When my Preston couch arrived, I was taken aback a bit by how much more firm the cushions were.
I recently got the smaller version of the Mercer sofa (65") from R&B. After having a super-slouchy and "lived in" velveteen couch for 4 years, the Mercer definitely took some getting used to. Not good for slouching (Good posture is enforced by the straight back), unless you have a table or ottoman close by the put up your feet. However, as an overnight guest deterrant- it works beautifully. Haven't had any "visitors" or "crashers" since I got it. Plus, it looks great and the advantage fabric is fabulous. On a rather gross but useful note, I once had a cut on my foot that bled all over the couch. With a minimal effort, the stain came out and no one is the wiser!! BUYER'S BEWARE- because I didn't choose the stock fabric it took over 12 weeks to actually get the thing!!
Dammit. Where can I find a "Jetsons Couch?" You know, the kind with the kidney bean shaped back with an eliptical base -- all in yellow -- and supported by conical, brushed aluminum legs? No one, I mean NO ONE, seems to have one. Sad.
Geoooooorrrge!

P.S. Will take in blue or burgundy as well.
