Quite a few of you inquired about the seating shown yesterday in the photo with Maxwell working from ATLA headquarters (aka, my apartment). The L-shaped set is the Modernica Case Study Bed with the chaise day bed*. A couple notes before you consider buying...

One warning is that the chrome-plated hairpin legs can scratch hardwood floors (especially older hardwood floors with a bit more wear and texture) just from the action of getting up and down from the seating. Because of the small surface areas of contact that the 4 legs make onto the floor, it easily slides, so having it placed ontop of a rug makes a great difference for preventing scratches. Despite this, I much prefer the hairpin option to the wood legs.
Also, if given a chance to update, I might consider the naugahyde vinyl option for easier cleaning; the Chataqua nylon in "drift" that we have has stood up extremely well to high use, but our cats sometimes like to scratch it and vinyl cuts down on cleaning worry (and allergens). Overall, we've got nothing but high praise for Modernica's quality and service...guests often note it's extremely comfortable and we've had to shoo away friends after they decide to take an opportunistic nap.

Hello, the information about the hairpin legs is very helpful. I am considering buying a case study day bed to use as our main sofa. I am no where near any store that carries it, so I can't try it. I am relying on the kindness of people who have one and are willing to talk about it. I know comfort is subjective, but could you give me any more information about the comfort. Would you be comfortable reading on it, watching tv, that sort of thing? Thank you!
