Update: Steelcase Leap Office Chair Arrives!

We believe it was those wise sages, Ren & Stimpy, that eloquently put it as "happy, happy, joy, joy!" Late yesterday, just as I was finishing cleaning up the start of my January Jumpstart, the eagerly awaited FedEx arrived and dropped of a large box with the Steelcase Leap task chair I had ordered just before leaving for the holidays. So goodbye hard Eames shell chair and hello comfy bottom hugging, back supporting seating.

I'm already noticing a big improvement in comfort, most notable in upper back support. The chair has a selection of adjustments which I'm still playing with. I tend to sit leaning back, with seat forward, and the Leap accommodates with both a lever and an automatic adjustment that reacts to body weight. I'll give the chair a couple weeks of use before giving a detailed review, but early signs point toward a purchase with no regrets.

Ha! Right now I'm sitting on a shell chair identical in every way to the one in your pic. I love these things, but man, you're right. They're not designed for long-term comfort.

I have this chair at work. It's not the prettiest (mine's black instead of that lovely green) but it really is a great. I love all the lumbar support.

Good looking chair indeed. I love the color. Could you tell me what the sofas and rug are? Thanks!

outlier: Sure deal. The sofa and chaise are from Modernica's Case Study line (you can see them a little better here. The short shag rug is from Target.

Nice looking chair. Do you know if anyone makes a task chair like that where the arm rests are completely removable/detachable?

I've got a small office at home and wouldn't mind a task chair like that. But, I'd like one where the arms could be removed for when I feel like playing guitar.

joetron2030: you're in luck, an armless version is an option at $150 less the total.

Gregory

I'll be very interested to hear how you get on with the Leap, it's a chair I like a lot and in fact I've just posted a review of it.

I have a HAG which I'm very pleased with.

I'm sure you'll get on well with your Leap, but I expect you'll need to make a few adjustment over the next few days until you get it properly set up.
