Artwork: Clockwise from the top, the pieces are:
1. Baby Tapir, by Susie Ghahremani(www.boygirlparty.com)
2. Swimming Tapir, also by Susie- these are both 1.75 x 2.75 inches, painted on those little sample tiles you get from kitchen redesign places. I framed them in simple white frames, mostly to keep them out of direct moisture from the bathroom.
Price: $20-$30 each.
3. Thinking Good Thoughts, by Trish Grantham (www.trishgrantham.com)
a great artist from Portland that I've loved for a long time. I'm so happy to finally have one of her pieces! She uses layers of drawing
and collage with newsprint or paper and then covers the whole thing
with resin.

My bathroom has always given me trouble... it's four different colors
of green (that's right, the floor tiles aren't the same color as the
wall tiles) that have proven to be impossible to match. I tried white
towels, and it just looked too blah with all that other color in
there. Once I finally settled on orange towels, it really started
coming together.
I've been amassing a collection of tiny art for the last year or so,
and decided to move a few pieces into the bathroom to really pick up
some of the orange and teal accents in there. I'm really pleased with
my bathroom now!

i really love this artwork- it think it totally makes the room- and i love that it's in the bathroom too! it shows off your personality and the fact that you've collected over time and carefully composed this grouping makes it unique and individual.
Dana,
I love your website, Aquarabbit, especially since I've always wondered what the world would look like from ground level, too. :) I'd also like the option of being in trees, too, so I'm opt to be a squirrel for the day. Jumping from tree to tree, free and happy in my pretty little coat of beige fur. :)
The art in your bathroom is totally my speed. I just put some of boygirlparty cards on my blog, I love them so much. Everything is just cuteness, squared!
I'm currently trying to get my hands on some more encaustic art. My friend is a local Boston artist who recently gave me an encaustic mixed media piece that I just love. It's dreamy.
Love your art, you have beautiful taste. I love contemporary design that is inspired by nature or has a vintage feel.

LOVE the art in this entry! Yay for tiny art! Yay for art in the bathroom!
Beautiful.
I really like all of these pieces! I love Susie Ghahremani's work; I have one of her cards framed in my bathroom too - along with a little handpainted piece by Heidi of My Paper Crane.
I like how spare and soothing everything is. Looking at your site again, I remembered reading The Little Prince, You have a magical quality in your work that would be fabulous for children's books. It has such a gentleness.
I love Trish Grantham. I live in Portland, and I see a lot of signs around that she has created for businesses. They always make me happy; even when they have sad toast on them.
thank you so much! I just got back from my whirlwind tour of nyc (more on this later after i've managed a bit of sleep) and to come back to such nice comments is such a thrill.
Holly.. if you love encaustic as much as I do, check out amy ruppel at amyruppel.com... she's also from portland and a good friend of Trish Grantham. She does these fantastic little birds and owls on small encaustic pieces. they are fantastic, and I am so happy to finally have one of her pieces. because of the encaustic, it's not in the bathroom though. :) She has online art sales every couple of months and they go FAST, so check as soon as the sale starts.
Ah, the green tiles where the floor is totally different from the walls! One of my friends has those in his bath.
I really like the arrangement of Tiny Art and its relationship to the shelves, though I can't articulate why I'm so sure that it works.
A while back, University Art had little storage boxes that pick up the floor tile greens and accent them with orange. Two different mod patterns. That's not a hint that you need more containers! Your color scheme just reminded me of them, and I'm very fond of mine.
there was another photo where I tried to show the green tile and how it works with the orange and the teal. The tile on the walls is a slightly minty green with a darker teal-ish border along the top edge. The tile on the floor is more of a yellow-green with the same teal accents in a diamond pattern. I've heard it said that there are more shades of green than any other color. I think my bathroom proves it!
A friend of mine forwarded Trish's work to me just a few days ago. You've inspired me to go see her work at the Museum Works galley in Chelsea.
Great stuff! I have a Trish Grantham as well. I absolutely love her stuff. Although you paid a lot less than I did :-)
