I am sure most of us somewhere in our apartments, homes, or condos have these Billy Bookcases from Ikea. And we agree that these bookcases are functional but so boring to look at.
While I was reading my new Style at Home (the Canadian mag I mentioned a few weeks back) they show a great way to dress up that blah bookcase.
In the photo they purchased Billy Doors - attached small rods to the top and bottom of the inside of the doors (or you can use a staple gun for a quick fix), and displayed Damask looking fabric in which they cut the fabric larger than the door to create a gathered look.
Now you can show off those Billy Bookcases in any room of your home!

Love that idea. It'd be nice in a child's room, too, or a bathroom to hide the clutter. It would cool too, with mesh screen doors, so you could see what's displayed inside (should you want people to!). The previous tenant in my apartment did that with my kitchen cabinets and it looks quite clean. If you look my the SF/AT House Tour you can see a picture I think.
I'm pretty sure in the new Ikea catalog they show new design-etched glass doors for their own Billy.
They also show a DIY suggestion of sandwiching fabric or paper between the parts of the available glass door.
I really like that table and those chairs. where are they from?
I love the Billy bookcases with the fabric, but I'm a bit confused... Are the fabric panels mounted behind the glass panels on the doors? The photo is too small to glean the details and I really want to do this with my Billies. Any help is appreciated!
April- It lists that the table and chairs are from PB but I don't see the table on the PB site - which is called Ashford. PB has other tables similiar to the Ashford that you may want to check out.
I did though find the Napleon chairs:

Monica- Yes, as it states above the fabric is attached on the inside of the doors.
Turquoise,
Thanks a million for the clarification!
