Circular Bookcase by Roderick Vos for Linteloo

040108bookcase.jpgCheck out this cool circular shelving unit designed by Roderick Vos for Dutch compay Linteloo. The top unit spins around like a carousel allowing access to all sides.

Would be great in a corner for a room that doesn't have that much wall space available or in a open loft type setting. It was recently on display at the Milan Design Week 2008. No word yet on availability in the States, but you can check out more of Roderick Vos' work here, more on Linteloo here. Via Designboom.

I'm not that much of a book person (do NOT throw things!), but if I were, and if I had a slightly "off-the-wall" shaped space, I would love to have one (or some) of these as the nucleus (or nuclei) of a configuation whereby the Crate and Barrel "wave" bookshelves formed semi-circles or 3/4 circles, although I'm not sure off-hand whether the scales of each would be compatible. Hmmm...

makes me want to raid my old high school library. it's gotta have one of these!

this item might be good for storing crafting/art supplies and/or kitchen items too for those without a pantry.

I have the perfect place for this. But it almost seems to library-esque to me. Cute, but too cute to look at every day. you know?

It's a very cool idea. I want to love it. But, I have the C&B "wave" shelves, and they're rather annoying. Storing books on a curved surface with angled sides wastes space because books are not pie-shaped. Inevitably, there is a pie-shaped void on every shelf. This would have the same problem. What I want is one of these that's square.

Agreed, farmhousemoderne. Why not just make one of these with four sides? It would be more space efficient.

The surely high "designer" price of this shelf will probably make Levenger's circular shelf system look cheap.

Fabulous!

I scored a two-shelf version of this at our local school surplus warehouse. It's a boring grey, but I see a make-over for it in the future. It's the perfect home for my Print, How, and ID mags. And for $25, you can't beat it!

This would work really well inside a cupboard.
