Coat Rack by Loyal Loot

atla-040908-llctrack04.jpgIf you don’t have your landing strip fully in place yet because you're still looking for a coat rack, consider the coat rack by Loyal Loot. Simple. Functional. Elegant. This is the kind of piece that makes everything around it straighten up and fly right in comparison. A coat hung here would resemble a work of art.

atla-040908-llctrack02.jpgInspired by the tear of an axe on a piece of wood destined for a campfire, it simply leans against the wall. Originally designed by Dara Huminski of Loyal Loot, a group of Canadian (yay Canada!) women, for the “Cabin” project – an invitation to design around the myth of the cabin – and exhibited at ICFF 2004.

animalhouze,

I expect those laminated-wood hooks are going to be pretty darn tough!

"Inspired by the tear of an axe on a piece of wood destined for a campfire" In my opinion..that's where it belongs.

Hmmm, judging by your past remarks,...you are a pretty negative person! Try adding some depth to your comments rather than just a shallow opinion.

i think it's cool-- i almost wouldn't want to cover it up by hanging anything on it though!

or you could look at it as an art piece inspiring thought. As you illustrated, how many wood pieces in you home could conjure up thought about deforestation and our use of natural resources. I feel like the negative slant actually illustrates why this is more than a coat rack, and therefore worthy of inclusion into anyones home who seeks to provoke thought through design.

oh come on suzy, that's kind of harsh. it's fine you don't like it, but as lshomme said, it might be nice to hear 'why'. (and as for your website design, well, i will keep my opinions on that to myself!)

the ladies of loyal loot are multi-talented, check out their website. their clothing is worth a look as well. i just found their site yesterday, having seen their pieces in blogs and magazines, and it's nice to see them on AT.

Ok, maybe my comment was a bit harsh. To be honest, the coat rack didn't do anything for me...not my style I guess. Sorry if I offended anyone.

By the way iacoli, my website is over 10 years old and hasn't been updated in ages. It was basically how I taught myself how to do websites, and is just a hobby page. I've done many more sites since then that are much more professional.

Looks a safety hazard or an accident waiting to happen.
