File this under More things from Ikea that don't suck: We have always been a fan of the Metro Shelving systems. They are indestructible and we love how the industrial look seems to blend beautifully into high-end living spaces as easily as it does the garage. The downside is the sticker price with units costing upwards of $400.
Enter the Ikea Omar Shelving ($69). For a fraction of the price, the shelving system has plenty of staying power and once it is put together - we admit to some cursing as the little "widgets" that hold the shelving in place sometimes take time to get into the right spot- we dare anyone to tell it apart from the Metro brand.

I ordered 42" Metro shelving from BigTray.com in San Franciso and it cost about $164.
You can get some intermetro shelves at Hold Everything on their going out of biz sale. Just act fast before the tower sells out, too.
You can get bakers racks at Costco that are probably far sturdier than the IKEA ones. Of course, you can only get them in one size but if this is your thingm, i'd go to costco first.
We have these... but how do you take them apart??? We moved and need to reconfigure and can't get the $()#*)$( things apart :( Anyone know how???
I don't think finding fitted bakers racks is a real problem. You could always turn on the internet and you would be surprised about the wide range of products.
