With the advent of digital HDTV you're going to see a lot of discarded old televisions as folks transition over to the newfangled flat screen replacements. LiveJournal blogger Michael saw creative opportunity when he found a three pack of old CRT tellies and some coffee tables legs in the dumpster. Primed, painted and bolted together, Michael made himself a most unique storage cabinet where his "undies, socks, shorts" are always a reminder, he's his very own DIY Network.

When I do get a newer tv I would like to turn my old one into a fish tank. Any ideas about doing this?

Just a cautionary note: CRT TV's contain large capacitors that are still quite "live" even after you unplug the TV. Careful what you touch!

The easiest and least likely to leak way would be to buy a fishtank that fits inside without the tank rims showing--one that leaves room at the top for the tank lights, pump, etc, and room behind the tank for the external paraphrenalia and wires. Failing that, I suppose you could make one with sheets of glass and nontoxic sealant, but this would be a long, exacting process!
