Although we fancy Los Angeles' year-long summer season (and we're sure feeling it again these past few days), we have to admit we do envy the beauty of an East Coast autumn, with all its glorious earthy hues. Now former-eastcoasters and LA natives alike can buy themselves a little bit of that autumn magic with this box of dead leaves from real New York trees. Ridiculous, we know...but a fun gift to give to your ex-NYC friends who will always pine a little bit for home.

A friend of mine and I did this many years ago -- we sent a gigantic box of autumn leaves from the Berkshires to a homesick friend in Hawaii.
In turn, he sent us leis in February.

"Pine a little bit bit for home"? Oh, that is soooo sappy.

I do pine for NY leaves, really do. All my friends have been hearing me whine for months about how much I miss NYC fall. If a friend picked a bunch of leaves for me herself, put them in a box herself, and sent them to me, I would be so deeply touched. If I found out she paid $8 for someone else to do it, I would be annoyed, at the least. This is a beautiful idea but seriously, who would pay for this?

I had the same idea after seeing this "Made in China" box at Target:

I moved to LA from Maryland, last year I was feeling really homesick around my birthday (October, the best time for fall leaves) so my best friend sent me a big envelope of Maryland leaves on my birthday!
