Interior Design for Bachelors, Rent Prices Drop Nationwide, Restored Eichler, and the Marketing of Naugahyde Furniture
Los Angeles Slinks for 01.27.09

012709slinksatla.jpgA great many fellas don't care about home decor beyond where to put their HDTV. Designer Tui Pranich caters to this demographic with "ready-to-wear" designs for bachelors to choose from. Also, news about nationwide rental price drops, a West Adams Eichler residence for sale, and an amusing look back at the marketing of Naugahyde furniture...

Interior Design Service for Guys: Tui Pranich's interior design service offers pre-designed bachelor pads. Is it just me, or do guys apparently only like dark wood furniture?

Rents Drop Nationwide as Vacancies Spike: Maybe it's time to move, since according to this BusinessWeek article, rent is dropping nationwide due to vacancies in most metropolitan cities. Maybe we can move into the home below if we wait long enough.

Restored Eichler Home In West Adams: Curbed LA reports a West Adams residence designed by midcentury real estate developer, Joseph Eichler, is available.

Marketing Naugahyde: "Lois and designer Kurt Weihs came up with the idea of inventing an imaginary creature - the Nauga. The idea was that Naugas shed their hide each year - and the result was Naugahyde, the leather-like material used to cover furniture."

I have a Nauga. I love him -- reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are.

I just checked out the Naugahyde site and they sell a variation of, as well as, the original Nauga doll. I so want one.

I still have my old Nauga somewhere, too. It wasn't very cuddly. :P

Those guy pads look like a furniture showroom. Are men that soulless? I would think that any guy who would care enough about his decor to consult an interior design service would want something more personal.
