Log Your Sex Life, Random Valley Front Yards, Chairs That Need Hugs, and Toolkits for Fashionistas
Los Angeles Slinks for 03.03.2009

030309atlaslinks.jpgToday's Slinks include an online web application that gives you the ability to track your bedroom activities, a link to MetBlog's series of San Fernando Valley front yards and how they distinguish themselves in the land of tract homes, a chair that is begging for a hug, and a set of screwdrivers that is either fashionable or offensive...

Bedpost: Ever wonder how often you spend "together time" in the bedroom? Are you a tally and chart freak who loves spreadsheets as much as spreading open the sheets? Here's a private web application to satiate your desire to keep statistics of your sex life. Open beta for now.

Random Valley Front Yard of the Day: Lucinda Michele of MetBlogs Los Angeles is posting a fun series of random San Fernando Valley front yards. She's "fascinated by the way in which tract homes, initially indistinguishable from one another, transform over time as homeowner after homeowner places their personal touch on their own little postage stamp of Los Angeles". We're fascinated by her fascination!

The Memory Armchair by Ole Jensen: We don't think we've ever seen a piece of furniture so in need of a hug. Come on, look at it...it's like a small gray mummy asking for a little love, doesn't it?

She Driver Toolkit: Sort of...no, REALLY ridiculous set of "fashionable" screwdrivers apparently appealing to the Legally Blond set.

ok - so I get having a tie-dyed pink handle on your screwdriver...but how can you guarantee your screw is straight if there's all that fluff in the way? And the handle that says "girl" would kill your palm after a while. No go.

god i hate "girl tool" marketing. females want usable tools too, so we just buy the actual tools and not the idiot tools (ie the pink fluffly ones)

keeping track of your sex life isn't that different from fertility friend...

The screwdrivers look like sex toys. Insert joke here.

I friend of mine had a great set of "girl tools"--they were good quality, practical tools, just scaled slightly differently to fit women's hands better. And they were a delightful shade of blue. I really want to find a set....

Pink, fluffy, impractical tools make me want to gag. Why not throw a little glitter on them too? I find it rather demeaning; it implies girls don't really want proper tools, just frilly accessories.

I can appreciate girly type branding - for goodness sake, I own a pink DS - but those don't look very useful.

They basically seem like a slightly offensive gag gift you might give to a girl who is never going to touch a screwdriver in her life. Like something you might see at Spencer's Gifts.

I like the screwdriver set. :-) However, one good multi-head is better than a set of individual ones. Or get 2 or 3 multi-head ones, so you can always find one of them when you need it.

I like how the chair looks like chair-ee from Pee Wee's Playhouse.

And who cares about the tools? Do they look lame? Most of them. Is it nice to have a little variety in the tool market? Sure is!

That Bedpost website is really, really sad.

Seshat - my friend just gave me the same set! I can't find it online - it's called "Do-it-herself" but doesn't list a manufacturer. Super cute and functional - although my female contractor laughed at them like they were play toys! :)

Oh - and my boyfriend hates using my girly tools (which are exactly the same as regular tools but baby blue). He's like "Bring me a REAL, manly hammer!"

I'll admit I once used a purple high-heeled shoe when I couldn't find a hammer, but I would never use those goofy screwdrivers - especially the ones with marabou trim. I need to be able to see what I'm doing.

If I were dating a guy and I found out he tracked our sex life it would be strike one. If he then bought me the tool set it would be strike two. I'm having fun imagining the loser guy who would do both!

Is that a large oven glove on the chair?
