Most of the answers in the post about breaking your lease prematurely is that you really can't, so it's not really a "how to" kind of site. Some people have luck helping their landlord find a new tenant, but that's not a given. Most agree you are SOL. While not exactly broken, the only two times I got out of a lease were due to fire and condemnation of the building, and when I moved to Boston, I still had to pay the last two months on my old lease. If it had been earlier in the lease year, I might have been off the hook when my landlord found a new tenant, and to be honest, I don't know that he hadn't found one and collected double for a month or so. He wasn't showing the apartment while I still lived there.
