PI World Time Clock by Lucas Chirnside: Winner of the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award, it simultaneously notes the time in 24 zones on a series of etched aluminium disks.
Chris Jordan's work is AMAZING in person, partially due to its heroic scale... usually about 90" across. The images are BEAUTIFULLY printed, and are much more colorful and deep than the reduced onscreen versions. From a distance, they appear as pure pattern, but the detail (and the magnitude of what it represents) just builds the closer you get.
They are stunning, disturbing, beautiful, interesting, provocative... they succeed on the pure visual alone, but carry such conceptual weight... without being "preachy."
Great to see his (am assuming a "he"?) work here!
