i must protest these can safes. I had one when I was kid that was disguised to look like Aqua Net. It was in my bathroom and my older sister was doing her hair, tried to use it, assumed it was empty and threw it out! I still get a bit teary when I think of my $457.00 (a ton of money for a 13-year-old!) rotting away in some landfill. I honestly could not forgive her until she sent me a check for the amount a few years ago.

My heart goes out to you, Cristy - that is a whole lot of money for a 13 year to lose in such a lousy way. What gets me about these "safes" is that putting them in a logical place means possibly mistaking them for the real thing and tossing them - BUT, putting them elsewhere makes them stand out like a sore thumb and defeats the whole idea of using them in the first place.
Libby, daughter of the woman who kept her mad money in a rootbeer soda "safe" in her bathroom cabinet - cuz any robber surely wouldn't think that looked out of place, right?

Just choose one that looks like a product your household doesn't normally use. Canned baked beans in the cupboard wouldn't appear out of place to a potential thief, but there's no danger of my boyfriend or me forgetfully trying to open the can and cook them up! :)
