Studies show women sleep less soundly when they share a bed with a romantic partner, while men actually sleep better when they sleep next to a woman. No mention about the effects of pets stowing aboard the S.S. Snorington.

What about men who sleep next to a man?

Yep. That's why I want the Lucy and Ricky set up :)

I want the Ricky and Lucy setup. In fact, I sometimes joke to my fiancee that we should live in separate duplexes because we have such strong personalities and occassionally differing tastes.
It's not unusual that I get woken up with an elbow to my cheek while my fiancee chatters and laughs to herself and continues merrily through her restful night. I, however, will get phone calls in the middle of the night while I'm away on business. I then somehow try to listen while she explains that she can't fall asleep and she's afraid of all the odd noises she suddenly notices in the night when I'm not there.

"men sleep better next to their mates" is a slight bit different phrasing than "when they sleep next to a woman". Hey- this is science, preciseness counts! or something...

If the study was only done with man/woman couples, it is what it is. A more interesting study would be if they studied enough of a variety of couples to see if it still held true gender-wise regardless of gender of mate.
