I've been lusting after the herb garden since I saw it in the Times last week. I wish the site was a bit more detailed. From what I can see, the herbs in the 7-herb pack are dill, purple basil, cilantro, oregano, chives, sweet Genovese (regular) basil. I think I see mint, but I can't be sure. I wish Italian parsley were part of the mix.
I wish you could grow whatever you wanted, instead of buying the seed packs for $19.99. As an avid home cook, I buy 2-3 plastic containers of cut herbs each week for $1.99-$2.49 each.
I think it's really exciting that they'll soon have strawberries. I hope they're fraises des bois, or the really flavorful woodland strawberries that I can't find in the Midwest.
molly,
Looking at this the cost of the seed pods will be expensive. I mean $20 everytime you want to refresh the pot will get expensive if you do it two-three times a year. With a hydroponics or even dirt system it costs a pennies to plant from seeds. And you don't get the same variety to choose from as fresh seeds.
It's interesting that they don't compare directly to a hydroponics system.
i just saw the aerogarden in real life at a recent tradeshow- and its really interesting- the people at the company were really nice and genuinely interested in everyone's feedback- i haven't had a chance to go over all the material they handed out- but looks like they definitely are looking to expand- however the unit they are showing is pretty big- you definitey need to commit to having some space for it.
