1. Who was your favorite entry and why? (other than your own apt.)
"Jenny & Clove's LAish Pad: The openness of the space with its dark wood and light fabrics sets up a stage for the outdoor patio -- it's a serene space in the heart of Manhattan."
2. Why you should be the champ?
"For us, a small apartment has to reflect personality while being functional and cozy. The challenge of furnishing on a budget made us think outside the (small) box:
salvaged mirrored doors (09 +10) create extra storage
inexpensive AC alumium sheets update the kitchen (07)
new wall moldings add dimension (03+04)
masking tape becomes wallpaper (02+06)
christmas ornaments on metal rods become a chandelier in the kitchen (008)
All that mixed with vibrant colors and our finds off the street create an inviting space that is only missing one thing: a kick-ass coffee table from DWR."
the white storage boxes underneath the TV shelf in the
living room. they look like canvas? but whatever they
are, they look sloppy and too casual to fit the
elegant maturity of their living room.
also not sure about the stainless steel cabinet doors
in the kitchen, but they're not awful.
i'd have a super-hard time deciding between this and
jane&darko's, but this seems more classic and
longer-lasting, but still witty and interesting.
i'm glad but not surprised, this got picked.
Color!!! Yeah!
This wouldn't have been my choice for a finalist (the mirror screen reminds me too much of the mirrored closets many of us have removed from our seventies and eighties homes, for instance, and the kitchen is not distinctive). I do like your use of color, though, and the strong graphic (fabric?) over the bed. I love the foyer light.
this was one of my favorites--the use of space is great, the colors are awesome, the artwork is cool, and I love the use of "found" items.
I don't know if I could live with that many mirrors in my bedroom, but the idea of building a closet out of hinged panels is super crafty!
love the lamp! Where'd you get it from?
in terms of most expensive lighting, i think we have a winner... (i never thought i would lust over lamp until i came across the ARCO floor lamp!)
adam
i found all of the vintage lamps on flea markets -- they ranged from $ 15 to $100.
hakarl
this should definitely be the winner. the best you can make of such a small place.
