1. Who was your favorite entry and why? (other than your own apt.)
"#16: David and Im's "One Space": We feel the couple has maximized their space efficiently, creating distinct areas of use while maintaining a cohesive décor. The effective use of lighting accentuates functional areas of living and activity. Their storage has become an element of decoration, with the ingenious effect of hiding or revealing possessions depending upon necessity. Details such as the ladder, the sleeping loft, and the chairs upon the wall are unexpected and even a bit playful. We especially like the wraparound bookshelf, which brings both colour and personality into what could easily have been an industrial space."

I love love love your use of colors and kitties! I want to sit on your floor and play with your toys all day. Your place is so tranquil, fun and comfy. Can I sleep on your couch?
I love absolutely everything about this apartment - the colors, the toys, and the cats! Just looking at the pics makes me smile - I can imagine how happy one would be to come home to such a sweet space.
i love all your toys and art pieces that sort of tuck into the little spaces created by the archtectural elements. because they are so subtle and unassuming, it seem you might see the room differently every time you're in it!
What a Fab place! With your use of color, and objects you've managed to make even the most ordinary items and toys look like works of Art. Of course you also have some great art pieces! At the same time the space looks very comfortable and relaxing. I want all the clothes in the adorable closet set up too!
For such a relatively small space, it gives off the impression of being much roomier. All the while, it still exudes a feeling of comfort and familiarity. I love the choices in color and decor, too!
Another happy home. Good for the judges on this one. The colors all flow (I have two of the same colors in my home), you've displayed personal knick-knacks without making it look cluttered, the t.v isn't hidden but also doesn't impede on everything else. The studio looks lived in. I love it. I'm trying to figure out what that storage unit is in the kitchen, though. Whatever it is, I like the ribbed glass doors on it. I don't even like cats (dog person), and I love this place!
My son and I have a small apartment. We're looking for ideas. All the entries are
inventive and some clever. What we loved about this entry is as my son exclaimed "" it's cozy!"
It's full of real life and livable. You've got
to be able to be home and be comfortable, throw a book here or be lazy somewhere. They really have done that. You don't have to put something
back right away to have it still look great.
The colors are lovely and not something that constantly sticks out. Of course, we loved the fun elements, in the nooks and cranies. The use of book shelves and closet space create good organization. Thanks to Greg and Ems Silverlake Sanctuary we have new ideas to help us deal with our small space and feel like we can look great at the same time!
After having thoughtfully reviewed (almost) every entry, I think this is by far and away the most creative, personal space posted. It's taken a similar formula that so many other spaces have used and infused it with their personality and tastes, not fads from the latest design magazines or overwhelming kitsch (which I happen to be a fan of both). It's Clean Kitsch.
It's also one of the few entries that has left an impression beyond the "next" button or "haven't I seen this one before?". And as everyone has said previously, the use of color and display makes me want to move right in! Or at least stop by for some cake.
This is the most inviting space ever. I want to move in. The use of color and the affectionate (while also clean and elegant) placement of interesting and original objects makes me feel tranquil yet engaged.
Greg and Em have created a space in which every object/color/texture creates refreshing focal points
while also contributing to an overall sense of harmony. Playful, soothing, energizing -- this space has it all. Can I come over for tea and to play with the kitties?
Such lovely comments -- thank you, everyone!
Pat, the storage unit you asked about is a 1950s Eastham kitchen cabinet made in the UK. It provides lots of storage as well as much-needed counter surface with its drop-down leaf.
love the colors and the open windows, use of space. We gotta see it Greg and Em. Use of fabric and combination of furniture and mirrors is awesome. Your spare walls and yet interesting pictures are so intriguing.... good job. All your things are homonious yet not formulaic.
we will let you know when we are in town!
