apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

#14 Jeramy's Thrifty Digs

Name: Jeramy
Location: Los Angeles ("Little Armenia")
Size & Type: 480 sq. ft. studio

Favorite resource: Thrift stores and yard sales.

Pitch: My small studio is cool because the live/sleep area is about the size of a master bedroom with a full-size bed, Desk, couch, coffee table, jukebox, piano, Tv, two side-tables placed at the foot of the bed, one side-table on one side of the head of the bed, another under the Tv and one on the side of the couch. I have 3 guitars and an amp, one chair, and a record bin. Yet when you come in, it feels like a much larger living space. Only one Ikea item...all other furniture is vintage, mostly found at thrift stores.

I like it. While it isn't the best of the LA submissions, it is the closest to what I want my new apartment to look like. I'm thinking of using silkscreen concert posters and vintage recording gear to decorate my living room, but am a little unsure of how to make it look complimentary to my apartment instead of the central focus. This entry has given me some ideas.

Two! Two bass guitars! Ahhh Ha Ha!

I love the jukebox and record sleeves. Agreed that it looks very spacious; there's nothing in the center of the living space/bedroom in picture 2! Where are you hiding the bed and piano?

Whoa...you have a ghost coffee table haunting your living room. Wish I could see the rest of your bed.

If I were your buddy, I would be tempted to pull the sofa away from the wall.

I think you need a bigger fan because your place is hot!

I'm diggN the 60's/70's theme. There's some really good stuff out there & this entry has a nice collection. I think the navy blue flowing from the dinette, to the IKEA chair & pot, to the bed, & ending with the jukebox helps unify most of the space. And are those built-in ashtrays in the coffee table? Groovy Good job.

Awesome! I love a place furnished in thrift store finds. The breakfast room chairs are cool. I'm very jealous of the jukebox.

That floor is made for dancing! You need some people to furnish this place :)
