Smallest Coolest Contest Reminder and a 2007 Flashback

atla041108-ericammo01.jpgApril 14. That's just a few days away from our Smallest Coolest contest deadline. Don't delay and miss out on the chance to win one of the over $10,000 in prizes we're giving to national and regional winners. Save the procrastination for tax filing and enter now.

Above is one of our favourite Smallest Coolest finalist entries from 2007: Eric and Ammo's Eye-catching Abode. Eric and Ammo's small space collaboration is proof you can do a whole lot with very little. A few more photos under the jump...

atla041108-ericammo02.jpg"Our challenge is that we started with a plain white box of an apartment that is a clone of thousands of other tiny Hollywood studios with nothing especially unique about it. We wanted to make the apartment feel as large and inviting as possible so we started by painting the walls a very dark chocolate brown."

atla041108-ericammo03.jpg"We love our hand painted designs on the walls. We are avid do-it-yourselfers and most things in the apartment we make from scratch. The walls are great because they are very vivid, cost little more than a can of paint and save space. We have thrown parties with over 25 people, and nobody felt cramped."

It's stunning, and I love it - but where do they keep their things?

Cool use of paint. Does anyone know where the chairs are from?

I forgot how amazing the paint job in that apartment was. It's stunning!

The chairs are from Futurama Furniture (http://www.futuramafurniture.net/)

The things are in the closet which is bigger than you might think. I also use pretty much every drawer and cabinet to the fullest extent. Not to mention that my computer printer is in the oven (I don't cook too much.)

Thanks for the comments. I must say it is hard to watch the competition this year from the sidelines. I guess its time for me to move so I can start work on a totally new apartment and enter the competition again. ;-)
