I love it! It looks classy yet soo comfortable! Great job! btw I'm loving the headboard. I was looking to do something similar. Wish we had frontal pictures of it.

A lot of clever storage solutions here, and the wallpapered sliding door for the WC is a great way to save space (no swinging door) and add visual interest without clutter.

Amazing! It's a live-in puzzle box!

I don't know if it's my monitor here at work, the exposure of the actual photos or what but the place kind of looks dark and too muted in colors for my preferences but overall, I like how you made use of the space that is in fact, smaller than mine and I live in a true 1 bedroom flat.

Things like the sliding panel that is the same as the surrounding wall is a nice touch, less to break the visual sight lines of the wall when closed. I like how you made your bed a platform that can serve as a shelf when need be and how you fitted in your desk beside it.

The overall space seems cohesive and comfortable despite the muted color pallete.

First, a hat-tip to my friend, who worked with me on this, and his start-up design outfit (www.chinc.hk).

Some of the cooler things we did to save space was to turn the space under the bed into a sizable storage area. The whole bed lifts up, with the help of pneumatics so that you can open and close it with one hand like a lid. I also really liked the "horizontal bookshelf" under the daybed. The daybed is supposed to be a reading area, and it's great to be able to just lean over, open out the bookshelf, and grab a book. It also saves space and keeps the overall look and feel very clean.

I love the split picture over the computer nook....perfect splash of color. I also like the wall cover/paper print. It is so subtle and blends everything in perfectly. Great job!

Dan, I live in HK and I must say this is one of the nicest small space conversions I've seen here. The available square footage here is a joke and it takes courage and raging vision to make it sing. Now I'm going to be walking around So-ho and Caine Road wondering where your lovely apartment is!

@iroh - bathtubs in hong kong are quite rare actually. At the end of the day, it was a tradeoff between the size of the kitchen and the size of the bathtub. And I like to cook more than I like spending the time in the bathroom... The desk size was a trade-off too. I typically like huge desks facing windows. However, I will have to say that mounting the monitors does free up a surprising amount of desk space, and when I'm working and need extra space to stack papers, etc, I put them on the ledge in front of my bed, which is reachable from my chair without bending down, so it all works well.

@Parul - hint: you were getting close with Caine Road - it's on Bonham. If you're interested, my friend who helped me with this, last year quit his finance job and has a design start-up. He acts as project manager as well which takes the headache out of process in dealing with contractors, sourcing, etc.

wow! i am speechless! this is my favorite out of all the other entries! i loved how you maximized the space. i ws in HK last year visiting a relative and i know how small the space is over there. your apt. look so roomy!
