Stars of Design 2009
Westweek at the Pacific Design Center

040109_starsofdesign01.jpgWe enjoyed our time last week at the Pacific Design Center's Westweek. Aside from the many speaker series we checked out, we also attended the Stars of Design 2009 ceremony that acknowledged California's brightest stars in different design fields. Check out the winners after the jump.

040109_starsofdesign02.jpgWINNERS

  • Lifetime Achievement: Ray Kappe
  • Interior Design: Peter Dunham
  • Product Design: Blackman-Cruz
  • Art: Miriam Wosk
  • Architecture: KAA Design Group
  • Urban Design: John Chase
  • Graphic Design: Shepard Fairey

Each recipient had a lovely introduction by PDC President/CEO Charles Cohen, and a chance to speak. It was interesting to hear more about the breadth of work they had all accomplished. We especially enjoyed hearing about the incredibly creative and innovative architecture firm, KAA Design Group. They just launched the lifestyle product + dwelling experience called HOM. (with some amazing products - more to come)

LOL I was just about to say the same thing. I find at the PDC there is a lack of diversity in general, unless of course you count the security, parking and sanitation. That place gives me the creeps.

I thoroughly agree. There is tremendous lack of diversity in that group, especially given that L.A. is one of the most diverse metropolitan areas in the country.
