We love getting holiday invitations--whether they're from Evite or a paper invite in the mail. It didn't occur to us that some folks have pretty strong opinions on the way they receive and send invites until last week. A friend sent us a standard email invite to his Christmas party and we wondered, why not Evite? Not only do we love seeing who's attending the upcoming festivities, we also get a kick out of reading the responses. All our friend would say is that he hates using Evite. We are hoping to get a little more insight on this topic--so if you'll help us out with this particular AT Survey, How Do You Invite: Evite, Socializr or Old Fashioned Snail Mail?

I usually use Evite or Facebook, depending on the gathering.

I like using facebook for gatherings, but snail-mail just adds something special for certain events.

I tend to use e-mail, normal, plain old e-mail. Or if it's a general invite, I'll use Livejournal since almost all of my friends are on it. I dislike having to load another site in order to reply to someone so I'm not particularly fond of the invite sites. I keep meaning to have a party that involves paper invites, but I'm never that organized.
Sometimes I'll even *gasp!* call people and invite them.

I use regular email or yahoo for something small. Evite for say a "purse" party. Regular mail for my wedding invitations or save the date invites or even birthday parties.

I use regular e-mail (on rare occasions message through Facebook). But I love getting snail mail invitations. It makes me feel so special.
My get-togethers are usually very casual and more of a "you wanna hang out this weekend?" type of a thing, so I don't get a chance to send out snail mail myself.
Someday, when I can afford it and I have more than two friends, I'll host a dinner party and send out paper invitations.

Hmmm. I have never used facebook for invites. I usually just putter around on there.
I generally do evites and I mostly recieve evites. I do email if it is just a handful of people, but even then I usually just call.
Snail mail is for things like weddings, which I have already had won't be doing again!

I used to work for a luxury stationery manufacturer.... so, I morphed into a paper invite snob. Aside from the visual and tactile experience, it feels nice to get something special in the mail. Don't you think?

When you (anyone can answer) use Facebook, do you make a group/event and invite people to it, use private messaging, or write on walls?
I only use the inbox/mail or the invitees' walls. I've never created an event for people to RSVP to.

Evite for parties and informal gatherings.
Snailmail for holiday, birthday and funny or unusual just-because cards.

Love paper invites especially for children's parties and have also used evite in the past. I am a recent convert to pingg (www.pingg.com).

We rarely entertain, so either it's small and informal enough for in-person or phone invitations or else we snail mail something because it's rather special (to us!) When our new place is ready, the next occasion will be our housewarming open house. (Since it will NEVER happen again in our lifetime, this needs to be special!)

Facebook for sure. I create an event and invite people.

Check out MyPunchBowl, great alternative to Evite. Also Martha Stewart just invested in Pingg, another Evite alternative http://news.cnet.com/8301-17939_109-10076903-2.html

What I hate about eVite is that you feel like you're at ONE party already and being invited to another, AND you're under pressure to say yes in front of other people, some of which might be the reason that you may not want to attend. I'm just really not crazy about it.
And actually, I prefer parties that are small enough to be organized with phone calls, so I grill the host about who else will be there. I'm sorry. It's just true. Life is short, and parties should be about fun.
