apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

August All About YOU poll #4

What makes Southern California unique is that it is so diverse... and that it's also so spread out! We'd like to know where all of you AT:LA readers are located. DISCLAIMER: Please note that the above image is simply a very general reference. (We didn't want to get too complicated by having too many subdivisions.) EDIT: sorry, Burbank should be SFV

It's really hard to pinpoint some places in So Cal. Burbank is not in the San Gabriel Valley but is in the San Fernando Valley. No where near Pasadena. Glendale runs South to Eagle Rock and North to La Canada/ La Crescenta (which you left out) and curves SW around the mountain to the San Fernando Valley (134/5 interchange) Don't forget Sunland, Sylmar, Mission Hills, Tujunga. Lot of industry people live up there cause the housing is more affordable
If you haven't made it up to the La Crescenta/ Montrose/ La Canada area... you should it may surprise you.

Good points. I'd consider Sunland, Sylmar, Mission Hills to be SFV, wouldn't you? And Burbank definitely is the SFV. I'd consider Montrose/La Crescenta/La Canada to be SGV, but maybe I'm incorrect? At any rate, I think all of the other area designations are correct on this breakdown.

we should have an AT:LA mixer.

I am new to the area so it is difficult for me to decide where on the map I fit. I think I am bordering East and Metro. I chose east on the survey.

I live in Seattle! Used to be in Venice, but still check in with ATLA for tips and info on cool stuff I can get on the web.

I hate to break it to you but Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, Downtown, are not part of East LA. Even by your map, LA Metro is goes just past the 710 freway.

Jose is very right--East LA is east of the LA River--Boyle Heights, etc. I know Echo Park, Silver Lake, etc hipsters like to think they're all Eastside, but they're not. Pomona is east of Pasadena. Like, oh, 30 miles east.
And where's Mt. Washington?
And I live up Beachwood, right under the sign.
SO NOT Santa Monica.

I'm actually in Sacramento, but there is something great on each of the apartmenttherapy sites so I regularly walk through all four.
