Nice smelling bathroom?

031507smelly.jpg

Nobody likes a smelly bathroom. There are tons of products and items to leave your bathroom smelling nice. Potpourri? Candles? Reed Diffusers? Plug-ins? Room sprays? What do you use? or is just a simple box of matches, and/or an open window enough?

Since I don't have a window, that's not an option, but I use candles, (especially if company's coming), potpourri in dishes or baskets, a spray for desperate times, and sometimes I'll steal my son's Glade Light Show.

Candles but not artificially scented ones. As someone who is extremely sensitive to scents, I try to be as considerate as I wish my future hosts would be.

Candles: generally Voluspa or these great soy ones (Casoya?) I got on closeout at the evil empire of Urban Outfitters... Oh and a single match after number two (on an as-needed basis).

I spray perfume that I don't wear anymore onto the lightbulbs so when they're on, it warms the perfume and it wafts through the bathroom, and throughout the apartment.

With two catboxes in my guest bathroom I can't indulge in halfway measures, so I use this super-expensive Antica Farmacista diffuser in grapefruit. It lasts for months so I suppose it's worth it, and at least it is a lot prettier than some of the other things out there.

I tried using a West Elm diffuser in my other bathroom where the need is less dire and couldn't smell it at all btw.

The best move I ever made was to install a timer on the bathroom exhaust fan. Now, you can crack the window, hit the 5/10/15/30-minute button, and you're on your way to a nice odorless bathroom.

I use the most wonderful essential oils. They not only banish the odor, they also have healing properties! Nothing like multi-tasking!

I open the window, and leave it open until the next time i'm there.

It actually depends. Most of the time I try to use nothing, but if my husband uses the bathroom... You better bet that room spray is used!

a container of unscented plant extract deodorizer from Japan.

A bag of zeolite rock (gonzo brand I think) to absorb ammonia and musty smells.

A plug-in carbon air filter.
