Survey: Household Help?

maidtoorderjpg.jpgGrowing up, plenty of our neighbors, friends and family had domestic help to aid them on a daily or weekly basis with household chores. Not our family, despite both my parents growing up with maids in their homeland country, whatever mess we made was handled by the cleaning crew of Me, Myself and I Incorporated. I myself don't believe in hiring maids or regular cleaning services for various reasons, but I know a few of my peers that rely on them to give them that extra helping hand with the necessary daily chores. And several other friends have said if they could afford it, they'd quickly hire someone to help with the laundry, washing the dishes, and basic cleaning responsibilities. So we wonder how many of you out there are using outside help on a regular basis:

I have considered a cleaning person coming bby once or twice a month, but I have enough time to do it all myslef so it's a luxury that I can choose to forego.

I do though have people who pick up my laundry and drop it off. I log on to their website when I need them and schedule a pick up on the days that they are in my area, which is Tuesday and Friday. They pick up one day and drop off the next scheduled day. Every area of the city has a different set of dates for their delivery.

It saves me a lot of time and is really affordable. They have a set of keys to my place and are very discreet and reliable. They also do dry cleaning and arrange for repairs on your garments if you choose.

For a couple weeks of laundry and laundering and pressing of my shirts it runs me around $25-$30.

Oh I wish. My husband and I are both grad students AND work full time. We have a dog and a cat who both shed like crazy, and I've been travelling a lot this year so far, which means I'm always either on the road, or planning to be on the road, or recovering from being on the road. If I'm at home, I'm working on homework or in my studio, and housework falls to the wayside. I would LOVE a housekeeper. Just a weekly dust/vacuum/change the linens would make a huge improvement. I just don't have the time. I even thought about hiring one, but I don't have the time to set up a meeting to go over what I want done.
