apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Survey: How Much Time Do You Spend At Home?

100608-time01.jpgThis weekend, partially because of the drizzly weather, we spent a lot of time at home: napping, baking, reading, prepping a project we meant to get to all summer. Now that we've cured our home, we find we often prefer being at home and having friends come to us, to going out...

It's easy to spend time at home when everything we need is at our fingertips. Our kitchen is clean, with a full refrigerator, our couches are good for sitting and for napping, with comfortable cushions for our head, enough room to stretch out on, and throws to cuddle under. Our bathroom's clean and we've even got some bubble bath in case the mood strikes. If you'd like to spend more time at home (or just have the time you spend there be more enjoyable), join us in the Fall Cure!

I love being at home, but I need constantly remind myself that it's good to get out every now and then.

If I had a living room that looked like that room, I would entertain, too, but I live in 400 feet. I don't like entertaining with my bed so obvious.

If I had nicer couches I would like entertaining MUCH more. I hate our couches...but we're waiting till we get a house and then it's time to find the perfect couch!

I just realized that I have that triple-globe chandelier. No wonder I love this room.

With a toddler and a home based business, I'm at home most of the time. Its one reason I got so interested in AT. I needed to make my surroundings fun and beautiful else I go CA-RAZY!

I'm a grad student and thanks to budget cuts, I no longer have an office space on campus. So, since my books spend all their time at home, so do I.

I'm home most of the time, but it's because of an infant. I need to do a cure to get rid of the stresses of it...maybe when i get sleep.

how about "I spend a ton of time at home, but am not really excited to be doing so"?

I spend a ton of time at home. I look forward to coming back even before I've left and I'm always working on making my home even more comfortable. I even started a home based business JUST so I could be home more often! I wish I got to entertain more often but I chose to live much further out than my friends want to travel, so it usually means I have an hours drive or better to look forward to walking back in my door...at least it means less cleaning up after other people!

I come home on my lunch break several times a week. Our apartment gets lovely sun while we're away at work and I relish the short opportunity to sit in my comfy chair and enjoy it. It recharges me and I'm ready to take on the rest of the work day.

I spend enough time at home where I enjoy myself yet don't feel tethered to my house.

It could become very easy to stay home more often, especially since I am tightening the purse strings, but I have plenty of friends, family and activities that keep me circulating outside these 4 walls.

I would like to spend more time at home, but my schedule is quite busy. This week, I'll be at home 1.5h besides sleeping, whitch is not enough for me.

I work full-time and I'm a grad student and as a result I leave home around 7:30am and I'm usually out until 7:00pm or so. I go out on the weekends with friends and to run errands but once 7:00pm hits I'm going home to spend time with my cat.

Oh no, I'm going to be one of those crazy cat ladies, aren't I?

I work at home and have a 4yo and a 1yo. I am home a LOT, and I actually love it. I like winter because I don't feel so guilty about being indoors.

we love staying home, since we paid a lot to buy and furnish our house. :) Plus everything else is getting to expensive it just makes sense to save money and stay in.

After spending a year living with my parents to buy the furniture of my choice, I love being at home. My current apartment is the first one where I feel "at home." I love spending weekends lounging on the couch with the patio door open. I now have to be dragged out of my home.

I mostly work at home and thus spend a lot of time there - but I have to force myself to go out as I get stir crazy quite easily. And yes making the house beautiful has helped a lot with staying in.

My home is my refuge, and I love being there, but I do NOT like having other people in it. I socialize a lot, just not in my space.

i agree, i save a lot of money staying home. having a puppy makes it bearable & he helps with peer pressure too (i won't leave him alone after work during the week).

also, friends & i find we end up spending less & getting more to entertain at our houses and it seems more relaxing.

My home is my sanctuary - It's not perfect my any means, but just sitting in my newly redecorated den/dressing room with a cuppa tea and looking out the windows at the city is better than a dose of Prozac.

I haven't been out in about 3 weeks, being in a very dangerous country and being paranoid on top of that helps. The last party I was invited to and refused to go to (Over the weekend), ended up with everyone being put against the wall and beat up by cops who stole people's cellphones and money and turntables and cameras. So yeah, home is good.
