Ash Contemporary Office "in a Box" at Target

040907boxoffice.jpg

Talk about a Box office smash! Here's a stylish option to those that need an office space but don't have the room, or like the aesthetic of conventional desks. This contemporary unit looks like a small cabinet or sideboard, but it actually opens up to a fully functioning work station. It comes complete with pull out keyboard tray, file cabinet, and additional shelves. When you're done, simply fold it back up! We could see this being quite functional and non descript in a living room, dining room or loft space. Available online at Target ($299.99) More images after the jump...

very cute, but looks uncomfortable. No leg room!

I have something like this only it's an entire armoire that hides the computer screen too.

It does have leg room because the keyboard tray pulls out over your lap.

How far does the keyboard pull out? Would this work for anyone over 6 feet?

Great idea - my only worry would be the keyboard drawer front doesn't appear to flip down - that would leave your wrists resting on the top of the front when you are using the keyboard. Otherwise, I am a big fan of the concept and the styling. I wish the midpriced furniture retailers would follow Target's lead on these types of solutions.

Kenn,
I don't know how far this tray pulls out. I do not own this specific desk but I'd imagine that it wouldn't be appropriate for someone using this computer all day long (like a work from home type person) but it would work fine for someone using it to check email for an hour or two a day.

It's solid wood "Solidly constructed of poplar with a birch veneer". Assuming it really doesn't have particle board in it, I would buy it.

Actually both west elm and crate and barrel have almost exactly this type of thing - I am wishing R&B would make one in solid wood!
