Jellio Birthday Table

birthday_cupcaketable.jpgWant to know a little secret? My co-editor Jonathan is obsessed with cupcakes. When we're not talking decor and design shop, we're often exchanging a conversation that somehow detours to the topic of the baked confections:

Me: So, which question from our readers should we field for tomorrow? Perhaps the question about how to safely store away cups?
Jonathan: Did you say cupcakes? Where are the cupcakes?! I NEED CUPCAKES!

Okay, I am exaggerating just a wee bit...but the man does love his Sprinkles cupcakes. So this one is dedicated to my good friend Jonathan: the Birthday Table. Available in four colours and with a 24" diameter 1/4" glass top, this giant cupcake wrapper side table is silly sweet (and crazy expensive). If I win the lottery, I'm buying him one of these filled to the brim with Sprinkles cupcakes (and I know Mr. Lo will hold me to that promise). [via Pop Gadget]

Spiffy...at first I thought it was a lamp shade sprayed gold and turned upside down. Perhaps a reasonable facsimile could be made employing that jumping off point! Probably wouldn't be stable, but just a thought.

I'd love to see this as an ottoman instead of (in addition too ? - ah!) a table with a cute chocolately sprinkled cushion on top!

I was just checking out this interesting Brooklyn designer, Jason Miller, and among his cool, artisan pieces (ceramic antler lamp and "whatever flowerpots,") he's created Little Gift #1, a white hostess cupcake cast in porcelain and wrapped in cellophane. Shop no more for the perfect birthday gift. http://www.millerstudio.us/

actually, the upside-down-lampshade-idea isn't bad, esp. if you're only going to use it to sit a vase or a potted plant. those nasty old lampshades are fairly sturdy and would look just like a cupcake wrapper if you spraypainted them. i think i might try this.
