Float Your Nightstand? Gladsax nightstand by Hildurs hus

050508_nightstand.jpgIf you're lacking floor space near your bed for a nightstand, here's something that may inspire you: the Gladsax nightstand by Hildurs hus hangs on the wall and keeps all the necessary bedside items organized.

050508_westelm.jpgBecause this nightstand is back ordered (and kind of pricey--a little over $400!), we're thinking that West Elm's new spine wall shelf for $79 wouldn't be a bad alternative...

ikea also has the malm bedside table which technically mounts to the malm bed, but I am sure it would only be a hack away for any determines soul .... http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80104334

I think the Gladsax nightstand would also be great in an entry way.

$435 for the pair?
And not even a drawer or a place to put a lamp?

i am moving this week and won't have room for my night table next to my bed - i was so excited to read this post, but gee, $400? I will probably just buy three small shelves at Ikea or the container store and do the whole thing for $30.

Me likey! But $400? Utterly ridiculous. My father could make this in his sleep. I'll have to see if he will make one for me. It's nice to have a father who's handy!

If it had a little drawer it would be perfect!

Just a few words of warning, as this is a lot more effort than installing a nightstand that sits on the floor. I did something similar with the Mandal headboard. You have to mount each and every piece separately, and since I had 3 Mandal's, it was 18 holes! Plus I couldn't find the studs in the wall. I mounted it with Stolmen posts, so the hole (and wall-scratching incident) count was reduced to 6 holes, but yeah...mounting things on the wall is a pain...

I went to Lowes, bought two floating shelves and mounted them to the wall for my "nightstand". Total price about $50, and they look nice. WHY would you want to spend $400 on a bedside table?
