Peacock Melamine Dishware from Jonathan Adler

050908_adler.jpgYou'll have to excuse us, because we're really getting way too into melamine, and we know it. But we can't help that so many people are making great melamine dishware and that we've got summertime on the brain. This peacock melamine is no exception:

Jonathan Adler has expanded on his outdoor collection to include practically anything you'd need for a backyard party. Plus, the way we use trays around the house, we'd love to have the peacock tray by the bedside catching our glass of water, books and clock. Or even on the back of the toilet holding spare rolls, or our perfume collection with one of the glasses holding our toothbrush and makeup brushes. Who says you can't have a pool party in the bathroom?

Available through the Jonathan Adler website for anywhere from $8-$40.

Ugh. Some things should have been left in the 70s.

so cute!

i know what you mean about Melamine...all of my dishes are heavy, handmade pottery, so I picked up 4 white Melamine plates and bowls from Target and now they're all I use! so light and easy to clean...

Nothing beats the style of Jill Fenichell's melamine at bongenre.com ...

I must be outside that demographic as well. As soon as the kids didn't need plastic dishes, we were all back on the china.

Melamine scratches, cracks, warps and can't be microwaved. $12 for a plastic dinner plate isn't a good deal.
Found the following warning for another melamine plate:

"Charming and quirky, this salad plate makes it fun to eat your vegetables! Melamine. 8" diameter.

The following is provided in compliance with California law Prop. 65: WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive toxicity"

Just sayin'

Re: Carol K

Yeah, check out the wikipedia entry for melamine.

It's not specifically talking about the dishware application, so hard to tell what exposure levels would be, but its enough to concern me.

I have the pitcher and I love it. I have a tendency to drop heavy pitchers, so this makes it much safer for me.

Yippee! I am so glad these are back. When I tried to order last year, most pieces were already sold-out. :(

yes I know we bitch about everything being MCM but frankly I would take MCM any day over redoing the 70's. seriously guys with 70's style hair cuts wearing 80's style clothes living in MCM flats are bad enough but then you add craptastic 70's plates.
