Tucked away on Lincoln Boulevard begging to be over-looked is Lincoln Hardware. A Venice staple since 1930; privately owned and run for years by the same (some say ornery, some say charming) old man. This hardware store is a god-send.

This hardware store is suspiciously small. I go in expecting not to find what I am looking for, and always leave a satisfied customer. They carry everything I have needed to fix plumbing, wire lamps, paint a room, remove paint, make keys, drill things and hang things. I also noticed that they have an entire wall dedicated to gardening tools, power tools, and an aisle of bins and bins of every kind of screw or nail you could possible need.
You pay for some of the convenience with prices slightly higher than a place like Home Depot, but it's worth it to not have to brave the drive down to Jefferson. I may still trek out there for larger projects, but when something breaks or I have a sudden urge to start a weekend project Lincoln Hardware has my back.

I have been in there a number of times and I've stopped going. They never have had what I needed (except some epoxy, once) and they way I was treated wavered between indifferent to downright hostile. It's a shame really, because it's so close to me, but I'll never go in there again.

i stop here to pick up last minute things for work sometimes. the client service style is... hands off, i would say. but, yes, locally owned, no home despot stress-induced headache, and decent selection and prices. love your local hardware store!
