We're looking forward to a road trip with friends this week to Las Vegas. And while we expect the journey to be fun, road trips catch a bad rap for sometimes being cramped and overcrowded. If you're anything like us, we always like to take snacks and things to keep us occupied, so the car tends to fill up rather quickly...

Oh, Martha. Always so smart.

These are great ideas! I put them straight into my inspiration file!

I use the canvas shoe bag (clear vinyl) on my bathroom door. Every lotion, cotton ball, sunscreen, ECT... has a pocket. I know where everything is and how much I have.

Who needs this much stuff on a trip to Vegas?

Seriously? "pack a single hole punch"? That's not the most practical packing advice! I'd say, stash things you want to keep in a pocket in your purse/bag and then hole-punch them when you get home!
just my $0.02...

i think the hole punch thing is quite practical - a project to keep the kid(s) busy in the back seat while you're driving.

Seriously, when was the last time Martha went on a road trip? I doubt there is a vehicle large enough to accomodate what she would take along.

I'll defend the hole punch idea. I know that just tossing random scraps of paper, maps, tickets, etc. into my bag just makes a mess if it's a longer trip and stuff can get squashed or lost. And there are mini hole punches out there.

love the hole punch idea. When my parents went to my graduation in NYC this would have come in handy the week I took them to all the tourist spots.

Hole punch variation; I pack a vinyl, zippered pouch for mementos.
Upon my return home they all go live in a box reserved for travel mementos. Every now and then I open the box and pull out a cool thing I might display briefly, using frames or bowls, and then I switch.
Easy perfect for those of us who lack the patience to scrapbook.
