Hotels with history. Don't know about you but I would always rather stay somewhere with a past than a brand new luxury anything. Call me nostalgic (or old fashioned?), it's just so much more interesting to find out about the different lives of a city or a neighborhood through the hotel's story than to stay at the coolest, hippest place. (Though now that I think about it, who's to say they aren't one and the same?) Find historic hotels in cities across America via the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Because America might be young but we've still got a story.

I look at that pic and see The Del first and Marilyn second. I <3 Coronado.

My husband and I are going to the Hotel del Coronado for our wedding anniversary. A classic Californian hotel. Very anti- Disneyland. Not perfect or plastic in any way.

well worth the stay...as a single parent...I had this belief that my children should not grow up devoid of any knowledge of the finer things in life...so I would choose something save slowly and expose them. One year my daughter and I stayed one night in the Del. What fun we had in this classic luxury hotel and a memory we both delight in to this day...
