We have been seeing a lot of blues being used in interiors especially indigo and royal blue. Following are some design tips for incorporating blue into your own home. For a client I worked with earlier this year, they wanted to add blue in their space, so we found fun indigo pillows and a chair that we custom made through Mitchell Gold. We located royal blue fabric and had the custom benches made that open for extra storage...
If you want to keep your furnishings and just add indigo to your walls, here are some ways you can accent your walls with blue wallpaper and paint:
Anthroplogie came out with this Indigo Velvet Ameile sofa last year, unfortunately its no longer available but its such a great way to add some blue to a vintage looking piece.
And if you’re looking for a fun playful blue piece to add to your home, check out this peacock chair from Dror Benshetrit of Studio Dror for Cappellini.
Here is a wonderful blue Liam sofa from Mitchell Gold, the added nail heads make this sofa really stand out.
You can also use accessories to get that splash of blue in your home, like these lamps from Lamps Plus.
If you have other suggestions or links of images of indigo blue, please share them in the comments section. We would love to see other ways Indigo Blue ca be incorporated, even if you have used them in your own space.

Yayy there's my couch!! I bought it on sale at Anthropoogie for about 30% of the original asking price 2 years ago. Does anyone know where I can buy a similar style of bed?

love the bench!

I love the Anthropologie couch, and congratulations to danielle223 on her canny buy.
The blue and white lamp featured at Lamps Plus is a classic. It's much like Blue Willow china, which will never go out of style.
There is something about indigo that is very backward looking, almost Victorian. The indigo furniture combined with the brown and white carpet in one of the illustrative shots is pure yuck. Hasn't anyone ever warned the owner off dark blue socks with brown shoes?

Here's a navy rug that would look amazing in a kid's room:

And it is on sale!

AustinSarah,
I kind of agree. I have an indigo blue chair in my living room but the rest of the room is white or natural...no dark wood.
If anyone has any ideas on fur-proofing velvet, I would appreciate it. The aforementioned indigo chair is a nightmare with two large furry dogs.

Does anyone know where I can get that yellow chair? I searched google for "hourglass chair", but they just don't look as good. I love the curves of that yellow one. Thanks!

The first picture is soooo... coreographed.... it looks amazing... if just one of any of the elements of the composition would be missing, it would just collapse.
Not my colors or style completely but i love the masculine feel and the cosmopolitan look. Incredibly put together.

I'm with Sally. Velvet is a daily terror with my two cats. Everyday I have to run over my sofa with one of those 'pet-hair sponges'. But I wouldn't give up peacock blue velvet for anything!
Feeling a major love for that blue bench in the first photo.

Pet-hair sponge? Does it work? The lint roller isn't cutting it, and I hate hauling the vacuum up the stairs every time I want to de-fur the chair.

I will say the way it's done in the above pics is very nice. However, my mother's house still has its original navy and harvest gold bathrooms, and I've fantasized for years on how to afford de-blue-ing and de-gold-ing her place. I obviously need therapy to get over my blue and gold aversions :-)

Blue and Blue - That's my bedroom.

as for the pet hair issue, we have a white persian... little cotton balls fly around everywhere if we're not constantly cleaning. We find those clothing brushes (the ones with the bristly red fabric that you brush in one direction to remove fur/lint, and brush in the opposite direction to clean the brush) often work well. that and the pet hair sponge. We have not found anything that works wonderfully on velvet....

Does anyone know where I can get that patterned rug?

I think the rug is Pottery Barn, liony

I absolutely love blue.
I have his duvet from West Elm, and I think having more easygoing textures (organic cotton, in this case) cuts down on any old fashioned associations that you would otherwise get from velvet:

I've got blue throughout the entire first floor of my home. You enter to a blue/cream diamond foyer. The drapery tiebacks are blue rope/tassels. The kitchen and hallway floors are blue tile. The hall leads to my husband's office, which features blue walls. Guess you can say I like blue a bit! Only thing... My blue isn't navy or indigo. It's what I call a mid-French blue.
My blog this week featured a Color Notes series: Red, White and, today, Blue:

Too cool! Just saw this post- My boyfriend and I are finishing painting our bedroom walls blue- very similar to the blue on the left picture of the three wall photos. I love the color and makes the room so serene! Who knew that this is a new trend!
