Color Combo: Burgundy and Plum

061609_strange01.jpgWe are always inspired when we pop into one of our favorite stores on Abbott Kinney, Strange Invisible Perfumes. Aside from the lovely perfumes, bath and body products, the store is simply stunning. We especially love….

061609_strange03.jpg
061609_strange02.jpg...the rich color combination of deep burgundy and plum. The color palette is a perfect backdrop to the counter with a marble top and a dark wood base, the glass chandeliers and the perfume and lotion bottles on display. The plum wall color paired with the heavy burgundy curtains that line almost one entire wall feels fancy yet accessible. We imagine this look would be fabulous in a bathroom.

Not super crazy about that color combination but something else that is brilliant; all of the elements of the room are neutral, floor, counter, shelves. How easy it is to completely change the look of the store by simply painting the wall a different color and changing the curtains. That I love.

Are the curtains making the walls look more blue than plum, or is it just my monitor (or the camera)?

It's not quite doing it for me, but I'm going to assume it looks a lot better in person.

I like that owl on the top shelf.

I was wondering about the walls being called plum, too. I always think of plum as being a more reddish-purple.

Anyway, digging the name of the store.

The 'plum' looks more like a cobalt blue or royal purple. I also think of plum as being more of a reddish purple. That particular shade of red is not deep enough to make this really as luscious as it could be (though perhaps this is just my monitor and/or the photographs themselves). I do like the shapes of the pure white objects in front of that blue, though.

Hm. I think you can count me in the minority of folks who like this, too, though perhaps I have a forgiving (and/or deceitful) monitor.

I didn't notice the color combination so much as the what on earth is going on. Oh it is a perfume store. This still leaves me with a feeling of why.

Wasn't the old color scheme mint/red? It was a odd mix but I liked it better. Am I tripping? I like purple but not this purple. I'm guessing they were going for Phoenician/ "royal purple" to go with their Cleopatra inspiration but something about it is such a miss. Maybe because I liked the old colors I (possibly imagined?) before.
