Graham & Brown Paintables Small Squares Wallcoverings

050908grahambrown01.jpgWe've now got a growing desire to cover our stairway ceiling and walls with these paintable and textured wall coverings from Graham & Brown. We've never considered using wallpaper on the ceiling, but these vinyl sheets seem more like ceiling or wall tiles, don't they? Plenty more photos and where to get them below the jump...

Are these permanent? I'm looking for something like this to put on my new apartment's walls that will eventually be able to be removed... any suggestions?

I hate you Apartment Therapy. You always show me things I want a lot. I was contemplating making those fantastic umbria/chiasso butterflies my alternative headboard, but I'm thinking some of these painted in an awesome color/s would be so much more fun.

Just one question: How hard are these to paint? Would amateur painting skills just leave them looking messy?

what a great alternative to tile, done in a gloss thats what they'd look like. Perhaps up a fireplace surround...

Love the squares... and the price

Ohhhhh -- that would be the ticket for getting the tin-ceiling look I've always wanted.

Of course, first I need a place I own rather than rent.

I couldn't find any info at the link on whether it's removable or how you're supposed to paint it. My concern is that a roller might flatten out the pattern and that the paint wouldn't get into the crevices. I wonder if you'd have to spray it.

I used the squares in my small hallway, below a chair rail. It's easy to paint and adds nice texture to an otherwise boring space. It's been 5 years and I was just thinking it needs replaced with something new. Nice to see it in a fresh new light!

carinya27, were you able to paint it with a regular roller? I'd like to use the beadboard variety, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get paint in the crevices if I used a roller. Any tips you could provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

dblitz1, if you really want a tin look, actual tin panels are quite reasonable to purchase and they're really easy to install. They have some great ones here: http://www.classicceilings.com/

I'm thinking about doing this wallpaper on my ceilings though, in one of the more classic tileish patterns. Which I guess would give a look that's more like tin that's been painted 237892798327 times (which is pretty commonly found in houses the age of mine).
