This week, Curees are decluttering their kitchen. A few years ago, while decluttering our own kitchen during the first Week Two, we put our everyday stainless steel flatware in the Outbox. We started using our grandmother's sterling silver.

The stainless steel stuff never made it back inside the kitchen. We started using the silver everyday. We never get tired of it. We love the color, the heaviness and the intricate detailing. Now, we wonder why it spent so much time at the back of the closet. What do you have hidden away? Silver? Linen napkins? Plush towels? Expensive soap? Good sheets? Haul them out. Use them. For yourself.

I have plush white towels, sheets and nicer silverware that I only use for guests. With the towels and sheets, I have similar stuff for myself, but save the "guest" sets so they don't get worn out/discolored with everyday use.
As for the silver, I do use silver everyday, but save the "nicer" (albeit still moderately-priced silver .... I will NEVER own $700 flatware - it's a waste) for dinner parties. I don't mind saving it for others and not using it for myself everyday ... it just makes it special when I get it out. I still don't have a guest dinnerware set, though, 'cause I just can't find anything I love.

Such a good question - why don't I use the silver everyday? Mine was also my grandparents', and I only ever bring it out for company. Maybe it's time for a change...
Other things I only use for company include cloth napkins, tablecloths, and candles on the table. Oh! And the aerobed, of course.

Personally as a guest, I hate white towels. Always scared of leaving marks on them. Give me a blue/red towel any day !

Paper napkins! Whenever I go to Ikea out of town, or overseas, I buy (and then hoard) pretty, sturdy paper napkins. But because they're so precious to me, we use cloth on a daily basis and I only bring those out when we have people over.

Glassware is my "obsession" as my daughter says. As it is, we rotate through one set on a regular basis and the rest is on display unless we have company.

AT4H ... I never thought of that! Perhaps I should rethink my crisp white guest towels ...
