apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

What the heck is Plynyl® ?

When we saw this word recently we thought Huh? But soon learned that Plynyl is a woven, vinyl fabric bonded to a soft polyurethane cushion. In addition the material is stain and water resistant as well as very durable.

Coming from a background of the ultimate weave in hosiery, it was invented by Sandy Chilewich — a nationally acclaimed designer — founder of HUE Hosiery, and her husband Joe Sultan — an architect and interior designer.

The shag versions and spun vinyl floor mats are currently available at David Galindo Home.

Yup, I have that in my kitchen in my apartment. Love it. I have the wheat color. Gets lots of abuse and cleans up great. It LOOKS really really really wonderful. It's actually in the foyer and goes into the kitchen wall to wall.

It's the first product that looks like vinyl, even though it's supposed to look sisal-like, but you don't really care that it looks like vinyl because it's just well done.
