Good Questions: Bay Window Treatment ?

011108_baywindow.jpgThis question has popped up four times in the past two days, and we still haven't figured out a foolproof solution. So we're asking you, dear readers, to help us out: What kind of window treatment could you use for a bay window? We're thinking maybe breezy panels to add a punch of color, but we're afraid of the movie theater look. Any ideas?

Why not try shutters?
If it fits the style of the home, I say shutters are quite foolproof.

You could always do a roll down blind on each window:

I used to have this in my bedroom, flanked by drapes . It lets a bit of light in, while maintaining a good amount of privacy.

I've also seen these blinds in different colors, so you're really not limited to white.

Ikea has the best window treaments for the money and they are very easy to install. They sell rolls of paper/fabric cut and finished, that are so easy to work with. I have glued a dowel or a flat slat of wood at the top and bottom and use velcro (the peel and stick kind) to hang themand they look great. Very clean look if that is what you are looking for.

I use bamboo blinds from World Market. They were about $15 each. It has to fit with the home style though. I rent and have white walls, so they really warmed the room up.
