Magnetic Curtain by Florian Kräutli

020608magcurtain1.jpg

Why bother with messy cords that always get tangled? This project by Florian Kräutli is an interesting concept. He used a series of magnets that are incorporated into the structure of the curtain. This allows it to be pushed and pulled into many different configurations, and the magnets allow it to hold the new shape...

We're thinking there's a really great DIY project in there somewhere if someone wanted to be really crafty. For now, it looks like this is just a conceptual piece, and not sure if it is planned to go into production. However, you can check out more of Florian Kräutli's work at his website. (via Mocoloco)

These are great. They remind me of Hanna Allijn's Faceted Curtains, only nerdier!

fabulous! I'm thinking you could make a simplified version by adding mini-magnets to the edge of a sheer or light-weight curtain and folding it up like a roman blind.

If I were to make this, my curtain would always be tangled up.

It shouldn't be too hard, but it is a lot of work. The magnet rings I googled are gold plated as well, and 200 of them will set you back 30 euro and are 6 mm diameter.
