We've been using the same USB thumb drive for years and we're in the habit of replacing the information on it regularly. Sometimes there are important photos and other documents that we honestly wouldn't want to lose. Of course we back everything up, but we'd much rather get our drive back if we lost it and someone found it.
Lifehacker reader, Xavier read a post on Lifehacker that recommended labeling a USB drive with a phone number in case it was lost. He found it to be great advice and actually went home and labeled his USB immediately. It's a good thing he did because when he lost his USB he received a phone call and actually got it back!
Taryn wrote a post about leaving contact information in the password hint of our laptops and we immediately took her advice. Campbell also informed why Password Protecting Your Smartphone is a Must! We've read reader comments advising to keep a picture of your contact info on your digital camera so that if it's found it can be returned, along with using a picture of contact info as the wallpaper on your cell phone! We've done all of the above to make sure our devices are protected.
How do you keep your devices protected to encourage getting them back if lost?
