Floor lamps are like long necklaces or draped scarves: their lines and curves elongate vertical space and provide extra character and style. Especially bold and dramatic are oversized lamps, which play with our established sense of space, scale and proportion. Whatever the style — anglepoise, arc or tripod — the leggy lights are theatrical but not entirely superfluous.

I love all the pillows that are just piled onto the sofa. Looks very comfy and fun!
#2 looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, like it's going to shoot out an evil and destructive laser beam!
Ha I was thinking that about the blue lamp.... looks like some kind of monster!
All of the above are fun except #2. That's just ridiculous...
These lamps scare the bejeezus out of me, and I bet their prices would, too.
i sort of like them for the whimsy factor: they make the rest of the room look like it is filled with miniature furniture. sort of an alice in wonderland effect.
My wife and I really like these, so I did some research on them a while back:
Luxo Great 1 - $9500
Angelpoise Giant - $3500
Adesso Atlas - $221
I am in love with that first room, especially the chunky table. The lamps I could do without, but the blue one is quirky and fun.
Almost cartoonish - which is kinda neat. In pic #6 it makes the room feel not so serious.
Thanks for the link to the Adesso lamp Tulsa-Retro!
These are whack, as in ridiculous. Wall-e on steroids.
They're fun, but take up too much space for my home. Plus, I try to minimize the number of things on the floor to make the floor easier to clean.
Tulsa_Retro, thanks for the link to the Adesso Atlas lamp from me, too. I think I will go for it.
